1) Check Your “Added to Circle” Notifications

A good way to ensure you don’t miss any important circle additions is to hit up the “People who’ve added you” view every once in while.
To see this on your profile, click on the circles tab and then select the option. Once you’re in this view, you can click on the drop down menu to view “Not yet in circles.”
This will bring you the people that have circled you, but that you haven’t circled in return. It’s an at-a-glance method to catch anyone that might have slipped through your circle net.

2) Filter Your Notifications

The main “notifications” view is useful but it can be a little cluttered to work through with all of those overlapping updates in one list
You can actually filter those notifications by clicking the “More” drop-down option at the top right of your page.
Being able to view mentions, photo tags, posts by you, posts by others and circle additions is a lot more useful than the default view.

3) Select the Correct Thumbnail

When you add a link to a post, Google+ doesn’t always automatically select the correct thumbnail to go with the content.
Before you hit share, make sure the thumb is right. If it doesn’t, click on the arrows that appear on the top left of the image to scroll through the options.
Alternatively, hitting the “X” removes the thumbnail from your post altogether.

4) Save Time With the Notifications Toolbar Icon

The handy notifications icon on your Google+ toolbar can save you tons of time.
Once you’ve hit the icon, you can see more notifications by using the left and right arrows to scroll. You can even save time by adding comments from the notification window.

5) Tag People in Photos

It’s not immediately obvious how to tag people in your Google+ photos.
To tag people, you have to open your photo in the lightbox viewing mode. To do this, go to your photos tab, select the album, then click on the photo. This should load it up in lightbox view, at which point you’ll see the option to “add tag.”
An important note: If you tag someone in a G+ pic they will have access to view the entire album in which that photo appears.

6) Enable High-Res Video Chat

High resolution video chat is available in Google+ but you need to take some steps to enable it. Click on the chat’s drop-down menu and select settings. Now, check the “Enable high-resolution video” box.

7) Lock Down the Dimensions of Your Profile Pic

Google+ profile photos are 200 pixels by 200 pixels. Rather than chop down a larger pic, or worse still, stretch a smaller one, we suggest resizing the image you want to use as a perfect 200 x 200 pixel square before you upload it. This means your image will appear exactly as you want it to.

8) Display Your +1′s

The default setting on Google+ is that your +1′ed pages from around the web will not show up on your profile. However, you can change this to let people see what you’ve been liking.
Go to your profile tab, click “edit profile,” then click on the +1′s tab. You will now get the option to “Show this tab on your profile.”

9) View Your “Nearby” Stream on a Computer

One of the most popular features of the Plus mobile app is the “Nearby” functionality that lets you view public posts in your vicinity.
Until this makes it to the web version, we have a workaround that lets you view the location-based stream on your computer.
The URL for the mobile version of Google+ is m.google.com/plus, however, entering this in your browser will just redirect you to an info landing page about Google mobile
Entering https://m.google.com/app/plus/, however, will load up the mobile version proper and let you tune into those local posts.

10. Send Invites Without an Email Address

Google+ makes it possible to send invitations to join the service without even needed an email address.
This is ideal for enticing friends and followers over from Facebook and Twitter respectively. The “Send invitations” option on the right of your Google+ screen now generates a link to invite up to 150 people.

• This will show you details about the current sign in user.
• Now click on Add account at the bottom as shown in above image.
• This will carry you to sign in to another Gmail account. Put your username and password and sign in.

• You will be carried to your second Gmail account inbox.
• You have successfully signed in two Gmail accounts.
• Now just select any one Gmail account from drop down menu. You will be carried to that specific Gmail account.

Gmail has a new feature that allows users free SMS any where directly from the Gmail chat window. When I logged into my account today, I saw a pop-up to alert me of the new unit feature that now Gmail has free sms sending option now. So now we can send free sms without registration.

Previously, you could send text messages to other users of our list of contacts. This feature allows users to to send SMS, almost anyone as long as you know their phone number.
If you see the above message, simply type a number into the chat window for free sms.
Then you need to add the number to your contact list. Make sure that you have the correct country code entered with with the number that you added in your contact list.

Enter the text message and send it. 1 point will be deducted from your SMS credit. Increased SMS credit back to 5, if the person answers back to you to your SMS. The maximum credit risk can earn 50th It is essentially a measure of protection against spammers. That means Gmail supports a two way free SMS service for its users. This is a great feature added by the Google for its users for free sms.

In India, I can see that networks IDEA Aircel, Loop Mobile, MTS, Reliance, Tata DoCoMo, Tata Indicom, Vodafone are well supported by this feature. But there may be some teething problems with Reliance network numbers because I could not send an SMS to a phone number of Reliance communication in absolute confidence.

How to Set a Custom URL / Username for your Google Plus Profile

Google Plus has created a lot of buzz since its launch in 2011. It is unbelievable to see the growth of the new social network in just one year. It is reported that Google+ now has a total of 250 million registered active users
If you have been active on Google+ now, you possibly notice that the URL of your profile looks quite ugly, for example, here is my profile URL:

Google+ is now using a long ID at the end of URL which is difficult for people to remember. Although we can’t set username directly to the Google+ URL, there are still some ways to shorten it so that it looks cleaner and recognizable. Here are the solutions at the moment.

1. Google+ officially offers custom URLs

Update (November 2012): Google is offering vanity URLs for verified accounts such as football stars or car manufacturers. You just need to type in short URLs like “google.com/+davidbeckham” or “google.com/+toyota” to reach those pages.

The feature is not available widely for normal users yet. Google announced that they are introducing custom URLs to a limited number of verified profiles and pages, so we will have to wait for some time to clean our URLs.
Recently, Google has announced the a search-specific feature called Google+ Direct Connect. The feature gives visibility for Google Plus pages as the pages will show up when people type query in Google+ Search, for example, when people type in “+Toyota”, they will see the icon and link to the Google+ page of the brand. 2. Google Profiles

Google Profiles is now redirecting your profile page to Google+ Profile if you have one. So you can create a profile URL like this:

However, you can set the username of your own because Google Profiles uses your Google username for this URL. This is also a drawback of this solution, you might have to create a new Google account to get your desired Profile URL.
You just need to go to this page to create your profile, then click on the option Edit your profile – Profile URL. Google will give you 2 choices of Profile URL, you can choose the one with your username and save these settings.

3. Gplus.to

Gplus.to is a service that shortens your Google Plus profile into a neat, easy to remember link. To create your shortened URL, all you have to do is giving Gplus your Google+ profile ID, it will generate an URL in the format gplus.to/yourusername. You can set whatever name you want as long as it is still available. Here is my custom URL:

How to Disable Your Google Plus Account

Whether you are one of the few who did not like Google Plus or created multiple Google Plus accounts and now, you would like to disable your Google+ account, we’ll show you how easy it is. In fact, as of now, it is easier to disable your Google Plus account than to create one as you’ll need invitation from some one.

Follow the steps below to delete your Google Plus account :

1. Logon to your Google Plus account.

Delete Google+ content or your entire Google profile

When you delete your Google+ account, Google attempts to restore your experience of other Google products to the way it was before you joined Google+ and to permanently delete your Google+ circles, posts, and comments. If you delete your Google profile, you delete Google+ as well as other services and their data that depend on a Google profile.

When you choose the option to Delete Account, you will be presented with all the Google accounts you want to delete. They include Adsense, GMail, YouTube etc – all the Google accounts. Delete whichever you want to.

 How to connect Facebook and Google Plus Accounts?

Google plus has been launched as a Facebook’s rival but still Google allows you to link your Facebook account with Google Plus. This linking will be visible on your profile and your circles on Google Plus will be able to view your connected Facebook Profile.
In Google plus bar (visible on top or your webpage), click on the settings button on the upper right corner as shown in below image and go to Google+ Settings.

Once you are on Google Accounts page Click on ‘Connected Accounts’ tab and then click on ‘Connect an account’ drop down box.

There are options to connect your Facebook, Yahoo, Flickr, LinkedIn, Quora, Twitter, Yelp Hotmail and Plaxo accounts.



Once you click on Facebook option, you will be shown a blank field to enter your Facebook account name or Profile Link. If you have got your unique username from Facebook then you can directly enter your username here and Click Add. To check your Facebook username, log into Facebook and go to your wall or click your name and note the URL on address bar.

This user name can be entered in the blank field as Facebook Account Name. Click add to connect this Facebook Account with Google Plus account. If you don’t have username, copy the whole URL and paste in the blank field and click add. You can also choose if you want your Facebook Account to be visible on your public Google Profile by checking ‘Show on my public Google Profile’.

How to view connected accounts on Google Plus?

To view connected accounts on your Google Plus profile, Click on your image on name in Google Plus which will land you on your profile home page with ‘Posts’  tab selected. Now click on About tab and you will see your connected accounts on this page.

This linked account will be visible on the public profile and help other people to connect you on Facebook too. Similarly, you can connect your other accounts for other supported services.

If you want to change your display name in Google Plus, follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Logon to Google Plus
2. Click your name at the top right corner and in the drop down menu, select View Profile.
3. Click Edit Profile and click on your name

4. Once you click on your name a popup window will open and give you an option to change your name. Change your display name in Google Plus and hit Save.
